Mary Katherine Baumeister is a member of Dentons' Intellectual Property and Technology practice. She is a registered patent agent with decades of experience in the preparation and prosecution of US and foreign patent applications, particularly patent applications under the Patent Cooperation Treaty, including national and regional filings in the United States, before the European Patent Office and elsewhere.
Kathie began her career as a patent chemist and later as a patent agent for G.D. Searle & Co. She later served as the patent director of Pharmatec, Inc., where she was responsible for preparation and prosecution of international and domestic patent applications.
Kathie’s experience includes prosecution of patents involving pharmaceuticals, food additives, sweetening agents, chemical solubilizers and stabilizers, agriculutral chemicals and cosmetics. She has also handled patent applications for new organic molecules, including steroids, peptides, polypeptides, carbohydrates and heterocycles, as well as new compositions containing these chemicals and processes for their preparation and use.
Kathie is registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office.
Prior to joining Dentons, Kathie was a patent agent with Burns, Doane, Swecker & Mathis, one of the oldest and largest law firms in the US focusing exclusively on intellectual property, until its lawyers and other professionals joined a national general practice law firm in 2005.
