New York—SNR Denton announced today that Andy Roth, a respected leader in privacy and security law, has joined the firm as a partner in the New York office. He will advise clients on a wide range of issues from crisis management to best practices in sustainable data governance.
Roth joins SNR Denton from American Express Company where he was Chief Privacy Officer. Under his leadership American Express was ranked The #1 Most Trusted Company for Privacy four years in a row by The Ponemon Institute while launching bold new digital partnerships and initiatives.
"Andy’s legal knowledge, technology savvy and operational experience are a great addition, further enabling our global team in counseling clients not just on compliance with privacy and security laws, but on how to leverage data to drive transformation," said Mike McNamara, SNR Denton’s US Managing Partner. "This is a dynamic space with a shifting regulatory landscape. Andy’s close relationships with privacy leaders around the world, including in Washington, DC, London and Silicon Valley, will help keep our clients on the cutting edge."
At American Express, Roth was responsible for ensuring the privacy of more than 100 million customers and 60,000 employees worldwide. He built a global program based on the principles of Privacy by Design, where policies, capabilities and stakeholders were fully integrated within the risk management framework of the bank. Roth has extensive experience interacting with regulators at all levels in the United States, Europe and Asia and has served on the Advisory Boards of several prominent privacy organizations.
"Data has rapidly emerged as a core asset of all companies across all industries," says Roth. "SNR Denton's expanding global footprint, leading technology practice and highly entrepreneurial lawyers create an unmatched platform for delivering client-focused strategies. We can help companies unlock the power of data to drive insight and innovation while maintaining strict controls on privacy and security."
Roth earned his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and his B.A. from The University of Michigan.
