Edmonton—On June 29, in partnership with the New York Says Thank You Foundation, Dentons will show our support for the residents of Fort McMurray, Alberta, by hosting a Stars of HOPE® painting event to bring colour and hope back to the town that was recently ravaged by a wildfire.

The staff and professionals in Dentons’ Edmonton office will be given wooden stars to design and paint personal tributes to Fort McMurray residents. Their stars will join those prepared by hundreds of children and families in Fort McMurray on Canada Day, where they will be hung around the neighbourhood.

Since 2007, Stars of HOPE® have lifted the spirits of millions of disaster survivors in 89 communities and 19 countries. It empowers people to transform communities impacted by disasters through colourful art and messages of hope and healing. Dentons is delighted to be involved with this inspiring initiative.

June 29 is also the day that top musical talent will be in Edmonton for Fire Aid, a benefit concert for the community of Fort McMurray and the Municipality of Wood Buffalo. 100 percent of the proceeds raised will go to the United Way and remain in the communities. This is another impactful initiative that Dentons is supporting as the sole law firm providing assistance on all legal matters associated with the concert, on a pro bono basis.
