Atlanta—Dentons' managing associate Uchenna Ekuma-Nkama has been named to the 2018 National Bar Association’s “40 Under 40 Nation’s Best Advocates.” The award honors top lawyers nationwide who "exemplify a broad range of high achievement, including in innovation, vision, leadership and legal and community involvement."

Ekuma-Nkama, a member of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice, is based in Atlanta. She is a former federal prosecutor whose practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, white collar defense and government enforcement investigations. Her experience covers all stages of litigation, from pretrial discovery through appeal, including taking and defending depositions, direct and cross examining witnesses in state and federal courts, dispositive motions practice and appellate litigation. In addition to drafting several appellate briefs in cases decided by federal circuit courts, she has presented oral argument before the US Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, obtaining a per curiam affirmance of the lower court's decision.

Recipients of the National Bar Association award represent a cross-section of lawyers from big to small firms, solo and industry practitioners, government lawyers, judges, academicians, corporate counsels, young elected officials and various other lawyers, all of whom are using their degree in innovative ways to create a positive impact in their communities.

Ekuma-Nkama and the entire 40 Under 40 recipients will be honored at an awards gala during the National Bar Association's 93rd Annual Convention.
