Glasgow—Dentons' Global Women's Advancement Director and partner Amanda Jones has been named Manager of the Year at The Herald Law Awards of Scotland 2019, which took place in Glasgow on 27 November. 

Following a career as one of Scotland's top employment and discrimination lawyers, Amanda commenced her role as Dentons' inaugural Global Women's Advancement Director in October 2018. Since then she has been instrumental in driving the firm's agenda in creating an inclusive and progressive workplace which enables more women to advance in their careers, as well as being an advocate for change in the wider legal industry. 

Over the past two years, some of Amanda's activities include leading Dentons in being one of the first law firms to partner with Women Returners Scotland, spearheading Dentons' involvement with the Law Society of Scotland and the University of Glasgow in the latter's conference to celebrate 100 years since women were allowed to qualify as lawyers in the UK, joining the board of Smart Works Edinburgh (a charity supporting women into work), and being appointed Chair of the Scottish Government's Women and Girls in Sport Advisory Board which was established to provide independent advice to the Minister for Public Health and Sport on female participation and awareness raising in all areas of sport and physical activity.

Dentons was also recognised as a finalist in three further categories at The Herald Law Awards of Scotland 2019: Transactions Team of the Year, Real Estate Team of the Year and Private Client Team of the Year.
