The new partners belong to Litigation, Banking and Finance, Labor, and Projects practices. Most of them have academic experience and have worked for the public sector. Some have already received recognition from the most prestigious legal rankings, although none are older than 35 years. Their incorporation represents a relevant generational renewal for the global firm in Chile.

Dentons Larraín Rencoret will start 2022 with 4 new partners, after promoting in December 2021 Marcelo Alarcón (Litigation), Luis Izquierdo (Corporate, Banking and Finance), Rodrigo Sanhueza (Labor), and Ignacio Vargas (Infrastructure and projects). With around ten years of professional experience, their incorporation as partners increases the percentage of "sub-35" partners and provides the generational diversity necessary to face the multiple challenges of a changing environment.

About the new partners

Marcelo Alarcón (33) graduated from the Adolfo Ibáñez University with a Master of Laws (LLM) from the Melbourne University, focused on Conflict Resolution and Construction Law. He is a professor of procedural law at the Universidad del Desarrollo. His practice focuses on conflict resolution in civil and commercial matters, mainly for infrastructure and energy projects. He is a referee judge for the Santiago Court of Appeals for the 2021-2022 biennium. In addition, he is a founding member of the Chilean chapter of ENERAP, Energy-Related Arbitration Practitioners. He coordinates the area of Dispute Resolution at Dentons Chile. Marcelo was recently recognized in the category "Rising Stars" in dispute resolution in the last edition of Legal 500 for Latin America. The latest edition of Benchmark Litigation for Latin America also ranked Marcelo as "Future Star" for litigation and dispute resolution.

Luis Izquierdo (35) is a lawyer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, with a Master in Law (LL.M) specialized in business law from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). Luis has more than ten years of professional experience, of which the last eight he has been part of Dentons, integrating the Corporate Law and Banking and Financial Law groups. He has extensive experience advising national and foreign companies from diverse sectors, both closed and open to the market. His practice ranges from business formation and structuring to drafting and negotiating contracts. Additionally, he actively participates in project financing, corporate financing, and acquisition financing, as well as in M&A and Capital Markets operations.

Rodrigo Sanhueza (35) graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, with a Diploma in Labor and Social Security Law and a Master in Law from the Pompeu Fabra University. He leads the Labor and Immigration Law group at the Dentons Santiago office. Rodrigo focuses his practice on labor litigation and collective bargaining, in addition to advice on corporate labor matters and compliance. Rodrigo was the Chief Adviser to the Cabinet of the National Director of Labor and is a specialist in applying the Labor Inclusion Law. He was appointed by the International Labor Organization as an external advisor to the Inclusive Companies Network (ReIN, Sofofa), to develop a public policy project that seeks to improve the implementation of the aforementioned law. Rodrigo promoted the incorporation of Dentons to ReIN in 2021.

Ignacio Vargas (34) is a lawyer from the University of Chile, with a Master in Law (LLM) from the Pontificia Universidad Católica, specializing in regulation. Ignacio has experience in both the public and private infrastructure sectors. He developed part of his career at the Ministry of Public Works and later in the private sector. He advises national and foreign companies in contracts and controversies before the Technical Panel of Public Works Concessions, the courts of justice, and arbitration proceedings. He was named “Associate to Watch” in the Projects category in the latest edition of the Chambers and Partners ranking for Latin America.
