Global law firm Dentons has renewed its engagement agreement with the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Ecuador for an additional term of three years.

The scope of services to be provided includes international legal advice in connection with public indebtedness, debt management and other transactions or actions that will allow for better access to international financing and an enhancement of the conditions of the public debt.

Dentons’ Sovereign Advisory practice has been advising the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Ecuador on issues related to its public debt since 2019. For example, in December 2020, Dentons assisted the Republic of Ecuador in securing US$50 million in financing under the terms of a COVID-19 crisis recovery program from the World Bank, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), and Corporación Financiera Nacional B.P.

Paris-based partner Yun Ma, Co-Head of the Sovereign Advisory practice, and Madrid-based Banking and Finance partner Jesus Mardomingo are leading the cross-border team supporting the client.
