Our Houston trial team secured a favorable jury verdict for Microvast finding no breach of contract or fraud by Microvast and breach of fiduciary duty by the plaintiff. Microvast retained Dentons after the company was sued by its former general counsel, who alleged that he was promised stock options that were granted and vested immediately upon his start of employment. After a two week trial, the jury returned a total defense verdict after two and a half hours of deliberations. The jury spent most of their time on Microvast’s counterclaim against its former General Counsel for breach of fiduciary duty, which was vitally important to the client and its reputation in the market.

The trial team consisted of Glenn Ballard, who is board certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Laura Gibson, who is board certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and Mukul Kelkar, who is a former prosecutor. This team worked well with a case that had complicated law surrounding the stock option claim and employment law issues regarding the former general counsel of this company, which is now publicly traded but was a private company at the time of the issues involved in the trial. Kelkar picked the jury and protected the client against bias and prejudice in connection with the company that historically had much of its business in mainland China.
