Law360 named Dentons Law Firm of the Year in Native American Law for 2017. This award recognizes practices with the most litigation victories and that closed significant, large and complex deals on behalf of clients.

Dentons' Native American Law and Policy practice is highly-regarded for helping clients navigate the interplay of courts, the regulatory role of federal agencies, the influence of Congress and the realities of the current political climate. It represents tribes in the wide range of areas such as acquisition of trust land, including for gaming purposes; in federal, state and tribal court litigation; in administrative matters; and as general counsel for tribes.

Heather Sibbison, who serves as chair of Dentons' Native American law and policy group, which is comprised of about 30 attorneys, said that the firm has been dedicated to the practice area, allowing it to flourish. In the past six years or so, the group itself and its client base have about tripled in size, she said.

"The firm's leadership is very aware of what we do and very supportive of the kinds of things that we're trying to do for Indian Country," Sibbison said, noting that she and her colleagues see their mission as "doing good in Indian Country."
