This summer saw a spike in attempted hacks by notorious Russian cybercriminal operation Evil Corp against the manufacturing, technology, oil and gas, and transportation industries around the world via social engineering and the use of infected removable drives, such as USB devices. The attack vector is unusual because the malware known as “Raspberry Robin” – also known as the QNAP Worm – requires physical access to a network before it can facilitate devastating ransomware payloads.
