Stephen Della Fera is a member of Dentons' Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice. Stephen's practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, representing both individual and corporate plaintiffs and defendants across a number of different industries and in a variety of disputes, including insurance disputes, contractual lending disputes, employment litigation, class action defense, intellectual property disputes, and disputes arising under federal and state false claims act legislation. Stephen’s practice includes all aspects of litigation, including preparing pleadings and motion papers, managing discovery, taking and defending depositions, trial, and appeal.

Experience

Representing major U.S. insurer in a qui tam litigation brought under the New York False Claims Act, winning a motion to dismiss the complaint, which is currently under appeal.
Represented company in a qui tam action brought under the Delaware False Claims Act.
Represented commercial landlord in a contributory trademark infringement case, obtaining dismissal of three of the four claims brought against the company, sitting second chair at trial for the remaining claim, and drafting all pre-trial and post-trial motion papers.
Represented U.S. food manufacturers in multiple class actions, which concluded with favorable settlements.
Represented foreign company in international arbitration concerning a contract dispute.
Represented U.S. insurers in insurance coverage disputes.
Represented New York lender in contractual dispute, obtaining denial of a motion for a preliminary injunction and a favorable settlement.
Represented U.S. insurer in judgment enforcement action, obtaining favorable settlement to ensure satisfaction of the judgment.
Represented lenders in multiple contract disputes, obtaining final judgments in the lenders’ favor for recovery of the full amounts outstanding under the loans at issue.

Prior and Present Employment

Stephen joined Dentons in 2014, following his graduation from law school. He served as a law clerk to the Honorable Henry B. Pitman, United States Magistrate Judge, United States District Court for the Southern District of New York from September 2015 through September 2016, and rejoined Dentons in October 2016.

While attending Fordham University School of Law, Stephen was a Ruth Whitehead Whaley Scholar and a recipient of a Fordham Law Merit Scholarship. Stephen also received the 2014 Donald J. Feerick Prize in Labor Law, the 2014 Fordham Law Alumni Association Medal in Constitutional Law, and was recognized as the Fordham Moot Court Board David Nee Award winner in 2013.
