Evan Z. Lazar, Co-Chairman of Dentons Global Real Estate (Europe), was a featured speaker in the program, Rebuilding the Market: From “Bad Banks” to better Real Estate Players, their role in revitalizing the real estate investment market in Europe held at the Palais des Festivals, MIPIM, today.

The seminar, was split in to two parts, and focused on the challenges, process and legal risks of different players in revitalizing the European real estate investment market. 

MIPIM is the largest real estate industry meeting in the world and was attended by more than 20,000 real estate professionals from more than 80 countries.

In his remarks, Lazar said: “That the cautious and careful approach taken by many European lenders between 2009 and 2011 of extending and modifying to help avoid loan defaults and accelerations has resulted in many loans that were in technical or even substantial default in 2009 fully recovering together with the overall market recovery. This strategy which was questioned by many turned out to be a ‘win-win” strategy for both lenders and borrowers.”
