Eldor Mannopov, Uzbekistan Managing Partner at Dentons, has been appointed as Honorary Consul of Canada in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

His Excellency John Kur, Canadian Ambassador to Uzbekistan, announced the appointment at the Canada 150 celebration in Tashkent: “I am delighted to announce that, by the order of the Governor General of Canada and with the concurrence of the Uzbek authorities, Mr. Eldor Mannopov has been appointed Honorary Consul of Canada in the Republic of Uzbekistan. Many of you know Mr. Mannopov as a distinguished corporate lawyer who now heads the Dentons legal practice in Tashkent as Managing Partner. Under Mr. Mannopov’s leadership, we are proud to have opened a new Consulate of Canada in Tashkent.”

As part of his first official duties as Honorary Consul, Mannopov participated in the Canadian delegation, led by Madam Alison LeClaire, Director General of Canada’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and hosted by Mr. Abdulaziz Kamilov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan. The delegation met with the Uzbek Parliament, Chamber of Commerce, State Investment Committee and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The parties discussed prospects for the development of bilateral relations in the political, trade, investment, cultural, and humanitarian areas, as well as interaction within the framework of the UN and other intergovernmental organizations. They also discussed the significant potential for expansion of mutually beneficial trade and investment.

Eldor Mannopov is a highly ranked lawyer in business and corporate law, and is recognized as a market leader in construction matters. He also focuses on international trade, arbitration, M&A, tax, litigation and compliance. He is well known for his experience working with Chinese and other foreign investors on their investments and projects in Uzbekistan. In addition to his legal practice, he is a senior lecturer and course leader in the law faculty at the Westminster International University in Tashkent.
