Michele Carpagnano, Head of the Italian Competition and Antitrust practice group, will participate in the Festival della diplomazia as speaker in a panel regarding “Concorrenza d’autore: collecting societies fra direttive europee e apertura del mercato” on October 26. The panel will analyze perspectives of the copyright markets, which involves more than 100,000 authors with a turnover that exceeds €800 million. In addition, they will discuss what will be the role of the European Union in this market, the political answer expected from Italy and how does it work in other European countries.

The festival was born in 2009 from the awareness of the centrality of Rome in the international sphere. A large international community lives and operates in the city that daily relates to the citizens and local institutions, in constant interaction with the economic, organizational and cultural structure.

Rome is considered a focal point for diplomatic relations with 139 embassies accredited to the Italian Republic, 78 at the Holy See, 134 at the FAO, 73 near San Marino. With a solid relational circuit behind it, the Festival of Diplomacy reaches its ninth edition in 2018, thanks to the support and patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Representation in Italy of the Commission and the European Parliament, more than 70 embassies, seven universities and numerous scientific partners.
