As part of the Paris Arbitration Week, which took place on 6-10 July 2020, Dentons organized a virtual panel discussion on “The international legality of sanctions: a conversation with Professor Mathias Audit and Professor Alina Miron”.

Dentons partners David Syed and Anna Crevon moderated the discussion. Professor Mathias Audit from Sorbonne and Professor Alina Miron from Université d’Angers discussed the issues arbitration faces today with regard to international sanctions.

Many foreign policy makers use unilateral sanctions in order to place economic pressure on governments, organisations and individuals. These sanctions have been known to affect all areas of trade, finance and business generally, and arbitration is no exception.
