Edmonton—Dentons is pleased to announce that Ian Wachowicz, one of Edmonton’s leading commercial litigators, has joined our Litigation Group as a partner in Edmonton.
With more than 18 years’ experience, Ian’s practice encompasses all aspects of civil litigation with a focus on real estate and development, construction and administrative law, commercial and shareholder disputes. He has acted for a diversity of clients, including developers, municipalities and adjacent landowners in expropriation claims; vendors and purchasers in real estate litigation; and corporations and shareholders in oppression actions and other shareholder disputes. Ian has appeared before all levels of court as well as administrative tribunals such as the Municipal Government Board. He is also a Member and Presiding Officer on Edmonton’s Subdivision and Development Appeal Board, a body that hears matters on all subdivision and development applications in Edmonton.
“We are delighted to welcome Ian to our team. Our clients – locally, nationally and globally – will benefit from his expertise in civil litigation, especially in the area of real estate development,” said Carman McNary Q.C., Managing Partner of Dentons’ Edmonton office. “Ian’s diverse experience coupled with his excellent reputation in our legal community further strengthens our team of more than 30 accomplished litigation counsel.”
“I am very excited to be joining Dentons, and I believe that Dentons will give me the opportunity to provide the highest level of service to my clients,” said Mr. Wachowicz.
In addition to his busy law practice, Ian has made numerous contributions to the legal community at large. As a Member of the Legislative Review Committee, he takes part in reviewing and commenting to Alberta Justice on all bills that appear before the Alberta Legislative Assembly. He has been an instructor in civil advocacy in both the CPLED course for students-at-law as well as LESA seminars at his alma mater, the University of Alberta.
