Berlin—Global law firm Dentons announced today that Arne Friel joined its Global Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy practice on 1 February 2015. Friel adds significant national and international restructuring experience, especially with transactions in crisis and insolvency situations, to the already robust practice group.

Friel joins from the German office of Baker & McKenzie where he started his professional career in 2001. Most recently he headed the German-Austrian restructuring practice and was a member of the European Restructuring and Insolvency Steering committee.

Friel advises creditors, debtors, shareholders and investors in crisis situations and insolvency. He has particular experience in the field of renewable energies as well as in the automotive and real estate sector. Among others, Friel advised a DAX 30 company in connection with impending insolvency of one contract partner on two offshore projects, as well as numerous clients as creditors or investors of financially stressed or insolvent solar energy companies. Most recently he advised an international construction group on the insolvency of a subsidiary, the main client of an insolvent service provider for e-commerce and logistics, as well the proprietor in the restructuring process of a large volume real estate portfolio.

With the arrival of Arne Friel the German restructuring team expands to 13 lawyers, among them four partners and four counsels. The German Dentons team thus further continues its expansion strategy.
