Dentons is pleased to announce that, for the first time, the Firm has been named one of Canada’s Top LGBT-Inclusive Employers. Only 10 employers are included in this list each year and Dentons earned a position in the top five, based on our scores from a survey with which the LGBT Inclusion Index is compiled.
Dentons was chosen by Pride at Work Canada, a leading non-profit organization supporting the LGBT community in Canadian workplaces, based on our internal and community LGBT programs, initiatives and support. The selection criteria includes a review of Dentons’ policies and procedures; our LGBT resource group, Dialogue LGBTA; education and support; and community support. The LGBT Inclusion Index will allow the Firm to assess our progress using a variety of good practice indicators while identifying our major successes and areas of improvement.
In addition to being founding partners of Pride at Work Canada and Out on Bay Street, the Firm engages in a variety of LGBT-focused initiatives, both internally and throughout the communities in which we practice. Diversity and inclusion are fundamental to Dentons’ culture and our overall strategy, as we recognize that people from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds—including those who identify as LGBT—bring fresh perspectives, innovation and depth to our organization. To learn more about our accomplishment, you can read about it in a special Pride edition of IN Magazine, Canada’s premier LGBT publication.
The Firm has continued to be recognized as a leader in the legal and business community in this area, due to the involvement of Dentons’ members in our numerous diversity and inclusion programs and initiative. This exceptional achievement reflects the tireless efforts and dedication of our Dialogue LGBTA and Diversity and Inclusion Committees for their focus on this priority for the Firm.
