Dentons, the global law firm, today named Brian Raftery as partner in the Trusts, Estates and Wealth Preservation practice. He will be resident in the New York and Short Hills, NJ offices. Raftery focuses his practice on domestic and international estate planning, wealth preservation, creditor protection through the use of foreign and domestic asset protection trusts, life insurance planning, protective trusts for children and grandchildren, business succession planning and trust and estate administration. In addition, he regularly negotiates, prepares and advises his clients on pre- and postnuptial agreements. Raftery's litigation experience includes successfully resolving estate disputes and will contests. "Brian is a great addition to the firm," said Dentons' US managing partner Mike McNamara. "His varied experience and knowledge expands our Trusts, Estates and Wealth Preservation practice, which is already respected nationwide for its breadth and depth in representing high net worth individuals and family foundations." Raftery also represents high net worth individuals, including well-known sports figures, entertainers, business owners and wealthy families. He routinely works alongside client advisors such as sports agents, accountants, private bankers, insurance agents and financial advisors to meet the client's financial objectives while minimizing estate and gift taxes. Raftery received his LLM from New York University School of Law and his JD, cum laude, from Seton Hall School of Law. He earned a BA, cum laude, from University of Scranton. He is licensed to practice law in New York and New Jersey and is a Certified Public Accountant, certified in both New York and Pennsylvania.
