London—Dentons was delighted to welcome Sarah Outen MBE, the British adventurer, bestselling author and motivational speaker, as the keynote speaker at a special evening event for clients and staff in its London office last night. The event was co-hosted by Dentons' UK LGBT+ network, GLOW, and its UK women's network, Inspire.

Sarah Outen is an adventurer by land and sea. In November 2015, she completed her most recent major expedition – London2London:Via the World – an attempt to row, cycle and kayak 25,000 miles around the Northern Hemisphere. The journey took four and a half years and was all the richer for not turning out exactly as planned.

In completing various expeditions under her own power, Sarah became the first woman and the youngest person to row solo across the Indian Ocean and also the Pacific Ocean from Japan to Alaska. During her crossing of the North Pacific Ocean, Sarah proposed to her girlfriend, Lucy.

At last night's event, entitled "Dare to do – achieving your ambitions", Sarah discussed her incredible journey so far, what inspired her to take on such monumental challenges, the highs and lows she experienced along the way, and how she stays motivated.

Brian Kennedy, co-chair of GLOW, said, "It was an honour to hear about Sarah's extraordinary accomplishments, having achieved what many would consider to be the impossible. She is an inspirational person to have overcome so many challenges and come out the other side stronger as a result. She is also an inspiring LGBT+ role model, and the stories and advice she shared at our event will go a long way in encouraging all people to push their limits and tackle new challenges head on."
