Nieves Briz, Barcelona Managing Partner at global law firm Dentons, has been elected President of the Spanish chapter of the International Women's Forum (IWF). She has been a Member and Secretary of the IWF’s Board of Directors in Spain since 2017. She joins the newly elected Board made up of Yolanda Ausín, Margarita de Cos, Mercedes de Pablo, Marieta del Rivero, Ana García Fau, Pilar Girón, Gloria Lomana, Isla Ramos, Mariona Roger and Isabel Tocino.

Nieves Briz commented on her appointment, “I am truly honored by my appointment as President of the IWF chapter in Spain, and by the trust my peers have placed in me. In my professional career, I have always been passionate about gender equality, and in this new role I will continue to work to empower women professionals in all areas of endeavor.”

Ms. Briz joined Dentons as Barcelona Managing Partner and a partner in the Corporate and M&A group in 2018. She has more than 30 years’ experience advising major companies on mergers, acquisitions, due diligence and commercial law. She is also a member of Dentons’ Women’s Advancement Committee, which aims to promote more women lawyers and professionals across Europe into leadership.

Prior to her career at Dentons, she directed the M&A department at Jausas for five years. She began her professional career at EY Abogados, where, in 1998, she became the first woman partner and youngest partner of the firm in Spain. She is a member of the advisory board of several industrial companies and recommended as a leading M&A lawyer by international directory The Legal 500.

Formed by more than 7,000 women from 33 countries on six continents, International Women's Forum was founded in the United States in 1982 with the purpose of promoting women's leadership in the business world. In Spain, the forum has 115 members. Barcelona hosted the IWF’s most recent Cornerstone Conference from 10 to 12 April, 2019, with Dentons as a global sponsor.
