San José—Dentons Muñoz keeps growing and consolidating its presence in the region. They have hired 3 new practice area directors to their roster as well as a Director for Regional Talent. On the legal side,  Kathya Araya has been tapped to lead the Public and Environmental Law Practice, Vladimir Blanco will head the Tax Department and Roy Thompson has been named Director for its Government Affairs area. On the administration side, Lucas Cabrejas will lead the Dentons team on all things talent related. All four will be based out of Dentons Muñoz´s San José office.

Kathya, previously founding director of HIAS and former partner at competitor Facio y Cañas, will direct the combined Public Law and Environmental practices, to leverage the practices´ synergies in the region. She will work closely with Enrique Lopez and the rest of the Public law team, on government procurement contracts and energy and transportation infrastructure projects in the region.

Vladimir will work on strengthening the Firm´s Tax Practice in Costa Rica and Central America, particularly tax advisory services and compliance. In the context of the recent Tax Reform in Costa Rica, Dentons Muñoz aims to consolidate its tax services offering, including Transfer Pricing and International Taxation services.

Roy´s role will encompass working with global Dentons clients to take advantage of the region´s and specifically Costa Rica´s Free Trade Agreements, the updating of legislation to international standards, and the attraction of technological investments to the Central American region.

Lucas Cabrejas´s role in the Talent department will include the implementation in the region of Dentons´s innovative talent development program, NextTalent. The program will support its lawyers and professionals’ career goals, by focusing on the capabilities needed to be successful in the law firm of the future. At NextTalent’s core are leadership, team development, mindfulness, emotional intelligence and resilience.
