Transitioning from law student to lawyer can be tough. As described in a recent Indiana Lawyer article – and as many well know – law school generally doesn’t prepare future lawyers for the long hours they’ll work, the business demands they’ll juggle and the high-stakes decisions they’ll make. BGD’s chief legal talent officer, Shannon Williams spoke with the publication about the Firm’s strategy to help ensure the success of our young lawyers.

“[Young associates are] aware that they’re going to need additional tools, that they’re not just graduating from law school, that law school hasn’t necessarily prepared them for what it’s going to be like to practice law and the rigors that go with that,” Williams said. Therefore, Williams and the Firm strive to provide associates with the professional development tools they’ll need to succeed, as well as a partner mentor who can provide professional guidance tailored to the associate’s needs.

Shannon Williams serves as Chief Legal Talent Officer of Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP. Shannon has more than 25 years of experience in attorney recruiting and professional development. She has held a broad range of leadership roles pertaining to legal recruitment and has extensive experience providing strategic counsel on diversity-related issues.

As Chief Legal Talent Officer, Shannon is responsible for helping build a high performance culture through focused recruitment, training, and retention of talented and diverse attorneys and professional staff.
