Chambers FinTech 2022 has ranked Dentons as a leading law firm in eight jurisdictions, including: Netherlands (Band 1), Canada (Band 2), Chile (Band 2), Malaysia (Band 2), Russia (Band 2), Singapore (Band 2), Kenya (Band 3), Spain (Band 3) and the US (Band 5). In addition, the guide lists six Dentons lawyers - Jesús Mardomingo (Spain), Tracy Molino (Canada), Kenneth Oh (Singapore), Ignacio Pera (Chile), Salwah Abdul Shukor (Malaysia), and Arno Voerman (Netherlands) - among the world’s top FinTech lawyers.

Amsterdam-based partner Arno Voerman, who leads the FinTech team in the Netherlands, has been granted a Band 1 ranking. According to Chambers and Partners, he “is recognised by peers and clients alike as one of the foremost experts in the country in the area of FinTech and payments. He is a founding member of Holland FinTech and of the pan-European FinTech Lawyers Network, and has recently published a textbook on PSD2.” Clients view him as “a pleasure to work with” and “the go-to lawyer on payments”.

Kenneth Oh is a senior partner in Dentons Rodyk’s Corporate practice group and a co-head of the Fintech/ Blockchain practice. Chambers and Partners’ source points out that "Kenneth is genuinely a top-notch commercial and crypto lawyer and a good man."

A partner and co-leader of the Fintech group in Dentons´ Santiago office and a member of Dentons Global AI and Blockchain group, Ignacio Pera was ranked in Band 2. His activities range from accessing venture capital to business model development, regulatory compliance and positioning a company for due diligence stages, and data protection and privacy assistance. According to one of Chambers and Partners’ interviewee, “he is a great lawyer and is very active on FinTech matters - he is very up to date and knowledgeable.”

Senior partner Salwah Abdul Shukor, Head of the Corporate practice at Zain & Co. (a member of Dentons) in Kuala Lumpur, received a Band 2 ranking. She is experienced in advising FinTech clients on M&A and intellectual property matters.

Partner Jesús Mardomingo received a Band 3 ranking. In their review, Chambers and Partners point out that he “is lauded by peers for his prowess in financial regulatory matters (…). He is an expert on EU regulatory issues in the financial sector. Mardomingo brings strong cross-border capabilities, and has considerable experience in assisting banks and financial institutions in strategic joint ventures and in advising on the regulatory framework around e-payments and cryptocurrencies.” A peer describes him as “a visionary,” who “has always been on the cutting edge and is active with foreign players.”

A counsel in the Banking and Finance group in Toronto, Tracy Molino received a Band 3 ranking. She has extensive experience with payments law and technology, with a focus on FinTech, PayTech and other innovative technologies including blockchain. Chambers and Partners highlights her expertise working in-house at a bank and for Payments Canada which allows her to provide advice on a wide range of matters, including payments infrastructure questions. A source’s feedback points out that “Tracy is a brilliant lawyer and is incredible at the practical application of matters. She is very practical and creative in her approach to matters.”
