London—Dentons has advised Transport for London (TfL) on the groundbreaking roll-out of 4G connectivity on their platforms, stations and tunnel networks.
The unique roll-out will make it possible for TfL customers to make calls, check emails, social media and the latest travel information while on the go on platforms, ticket halls and tunnels on London Underground.
The Dentons team advised on the procurement of a public communications 4G mobile and WiFi network, as well as on the provision of coverage on the London Underground for the emergency services to tie in with the Emergency Services Network.
The firm's work included supporting strategic decision-making, advising on pilot tests and related contractual arrangements with several of the mobile operators on parts of the Tube network, advising on the procurement approach and on matters of competition law, advising on telecoms sector regulation, advising on and drafting of the ITT contractual documentation, and advising on the competitive process with selected bidders, all while working closely with TfL's legal team.
