Dentons, the world’s largest law firm, announces today that Spencer Hamilton was selected as an On the Rise honoree in Texas Lawyer’s annual Legal Awards. Hamilton is a senior managing associate in Dentons’ Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice, resident in the Dallas office.

Hamilton was among 30 lawyers under the age of 40 honored as innovators who develop unique practice niches; amass robust books of business; demonstrate strong leadership qualities; excel in litigation, in-house or transactional work; and commit themselves to pro bono, charitable and professional volunteer work.

With extensive experience representing clients in a wide range of matters in state and federal courts, Hamilton handles all phases of litigation, from coordinating and managing large-scale e-discovery, conducting witness interviews, and taking and defending depositions, to drafting and arguing dispositive and other pretrial motions, preparing cases for trial, and researching and writing appellate briefs. In his work for Dentons’ Litigation and Dispute Resolution group, he has helped numerous clients obtain summary judgment and dismissal rulings, or secure otherwise favorable resolutions. Hamilton typically works on 20 to 25 pieces of litigation each year, a large portion of which are cases brought in Texas state and federal courts.

Hamilton has also averaged 140 pro bono hours per year since 2013, including most notably successfully representing several individual plaintiffs in federal litigation against the San Antonio Zoo pursuant to the Endangered Species Act. The suit compelled the zoo to significantly improve the living conditions for 57-year-old Asian elephant Lucky, by introducing two elephant companions and improving Lucky’s habitat.
