Dentons, the world’s largest law firm, announces today that Public Utilities Fortnightly named senior managing associate Justin Mirabal to its 2021 Fortnightly Under Forty list, which recognizes young stars in the utilities industry. Mirabal is a member of Dentons' Energy practice and is resident in the Washington, DC, office. This is the third consecutive year that a member of Dentons’ US Energy practice has been selected for this recognition.

Mirabal was recognized for his experience advising energy industry clients in the private sector and his government service as a trial attorney at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Mirabal focuses his practice on counseling energy industry clients on regulatory, project finance and transactional issues. He has represented electric utilities and natural gas and oil pipelines in various proceedings before FERC and state public utility commissions. He also advises clients on FERC enforcement and compliance matters. Mirabal has achieved successful outcomes in litigation and helped craft consensus agreements between regulated entities and their customers in settlement negotiations.

Mirabal draws on a strong subject-matter background to navigate the energy industry’s evolving regulatory and business landscape. His practice engages issues dealing with the Federal Power Act, the Natural Gas Act, the Interstate Commerce Act, the Commodity Exchange Act and the National Environmental Policy Act.
