Human Rights First has selected Dentons senior counsel Randy Bregman to receive its inaugural Global Accountability Guardian Award. The new award honors passionate and dedicated champions of human rights who work relentlessly to hold accountable human rights abusers around the world.

Bregman is recognized for his career-long commitment to fighting corruption and human rights abuses. He is active on a range of pro bono matters, representing asylum seekers and refugees as well as advising on human rights issues. Over the past several years, Bregman has devoted significant time to developing Human Rights First’s human rights sanctions program and to promoting the protection of human rights as a central pillar of Dentons’ ESG Global Solutions program. Additionally, he regularly advises corporations and investors on issues related to compliance with anti-bribery laws and practices.

A member of Dentons' Federal Regulation and Compliance practice, Bregman has focused his practice on Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union region for more than 30 years and has significant experience in corporate, policy and trade matters. He advises clients in a diverse range of industries, including banking and finance, oil, steel, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications and consumer goods. He has also supervised litigation and administrative disputes in the former Soviet Union. He has particular experience with US sanctions issues and is closely involved with recent developments related to the new Russian sanctions regime. He has assisted both US and Russian companies in dealing with these new regulations, with particular focus on the impact of the Global Magnitsky Act. Previously, he lived in Moscow for four years where he managed the office of a US law firm.
