Missouri Lawyers Media bestowed its 2022 ICON Award on Stephen L. Hill, Jr., a partner in Dentons’ Kansas City office and co-chair of the Firm’s White Collar and Government Investigations practice. He received this prestigious award in recognition of his exemplary career and longstanding leadership and commitment to the Missouri legal community.

Hill has distinguished himself through his dedication to clients and his community. He is highly regarded as a strategic listener and counselor, and places the utmost importance on public service.

Appointed by President Bill Clinton, Steve served as US Attorney for the Western District of Missouri from 1993 to 2001. During his tenure, he led his team in obtaining numerous convictions involving corruption at City Hall in Kansas City, local courthouses and the Missouri General Assembly. Hill also advised US Attorney General Janet Reno and the Justice Department on corporate prosecution and health care-related policies. Additionally, he co-developed Project Cease Fire, a nationally recognized program targeting prosecution and conviction of felons illegally possessing firearms in Kansas City and western Missouri. Hill is a graduate of Missouri State University, and received his law degree from the University of Missouri School of law. He prides himself on serving as a mentor to young lawyers and is a shining example of how public service can build valuable skills applicable throughout their legal careers.
