We are proud to announce that Dentons’ Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy team received the Deal of the Year honors in the small restructurings category at the 2021 Americas M&A Atlas Awards hosted by the Global M&A Network.

These prestigious awards honor the best value-creating deals, outstanding firms, illustrious dealmakers and legendary leaders from the North and South Americas corporate, investor and deal communities.

On behalf of the Astria Health System and 12 related entities, our team restructured approximately $175 million of debt and secured a refinancing loan from the Multicare Healthcare System, allowing the hospital chain in the Yakima Valley, WA, to re-emerge from bankruptcy in January 2021 with a much smaller and more sustainable debt structure.

The team was led by partners Sam Alberts (Washington, DC) and Sam Maizel (Los Angeles) and included Los Angeles counsel Malka Zeefe, New York senior managing associate Geoff Miller and New York managing associate Sarah Schrag, with significant contributions from colleagues across many practice groups around the country.
