Tax partner Charles J. (Chaz) Lavelle has been named to Captive Review’s 25 at 25, a list of the 25 most influential captive insurance figures since 1999. Chaz has more than 45 years of experience in tax law matters, with an emphasis on the taxation of captive insurance companies. Chaz is a nationally recognized leader in the captive insurance tax arena who is a frequent speaker at industry events and often quoted in publications for his insights related to captive insurance.
The publication recognized Chaz for his involvement in several of the most important cases of all time, his representation of large numbers of micro-captives facing IRS audit in the 2010s and 2020s, his efforts to bring on the next generation of captive insurance professionals, and his enthusiasm when speaking at many industry events over the last 25 years.
Captive Review’s 25 at 25 list recognizes the people who the publication believes have most shaped the captive insurance industry since the publication was founded in 1999. Captive Review inducted Chaz into its Captive Hall of Fame in 2020.
