Jim Williams has been elected to the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation (ABF), joining a distinguished group of attorneys, judges, law faculty and legal scholars who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the highest principles of the legal profession. Membership in this global honorary society is extended by invitation only to one percent of attorneys licensed to practice in each jurisdiction. As a Fellow, Williams will actively participate in ABF's programs and objectives, which are aimed at improving the administration of justice and the rule of law, promoting legal study and research and continuing the education of lawyers and judges.
Williams is a shareholder in Dentons Sirote’s Birmingham office, where he is a member of the Litigation practice. With over three decades of experience at the Firm, he has proven himself as a leader by serving as the head of the Insurance Litigation team and as a former member of the Firm’s Board of Directors/Executive Committee. Additionally, he holds the position of chairing the Firm’s Recruitment Committee. In his practice, Williams handles a wide array of civil litigation, particularly focusing on life, health, long term care and disability insurance litigation; insurance coverage disputes; banking, investment and financial institution litigation; trust, estate and probate litigation; shareholder oppression and derivative lawsuits; as well as construction and commercial litigation on behalf of individuals and businesses. He handles matters throughout the country. He also handles appeals in state and federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court. Williams is admitted to practice in both Alabama and Georgia.
