The Turnaround Management Association (TMA) twice recognized Dentons’ Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy practice in its 2025 Turnaround and Transaction of the Year Awards. The awards program honors the most successful turnaround and impactful transactions in the nation as determined by a rigorous peer review process that emphasized well-defined, measurable outcomes.

Dentons was awarded the Small Company Turnaround/Transaction of the Year for its representation of Curitec, LLC, a national wound care provider. The Chapter 11 plan of reorganization, which was confirmed after extensive negotiations resulted in a comprehensive settlement with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, paid off creditors in full and ensured that Curitec’s owners retained control, that thousands of employees kept their jobs and that patients continued to receive essential medical care. Los Angeles Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy (RIB) partner Samuel Maizel led the national team, which also included Washington, DC, partner Sam Alberts, Portland partner Andrew Helman and Houston counsel Casey Doherty.

The Firm was also recognized with the Non-Profit Company Turnaround/Transaction of the Year for representing the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Heywood Healthcare, Inc. et al. in jointly administered Chapter 11 cases. The debtor companies own and operate two community hospitals in Massachusetts. Dentons’ RIB team played a pivotal role in helping the parties reach a global settlement that is expected to provide general unsecured creditors a significant recovery. That team included Alberts, Helman and New York partner Lauren Macksoud.

In October, Maizel will attend the 2025 TMA Annual Conference in New Orleans to accept the awards on behalf of the Firm.
