Around the globe, Dentons has made a number of sustainability commitments, including:
Sustainable Development Goals
We support the SDGs globally and have taken a differentiated approach in encouraging each Dentons’ region to adopt and prioritize the goals that are material to them and the communities they serve.
Science Based Targets initiative
We had previously signed up to the now closed, Business Ambition for 1.5°C, a campaign led by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in partnership with the UN Global Compact. In line with this initiative, we are still planning to set Net Zero targets, and our UKIME region has already completed this process and has had its SBTi climate targets approved.
United Nations Global Compact
We are a signatory to the UNGC as a pact to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies, as well as reporting on their implementation in our Europe Region, and specific offices in our Latin America and Caribbean Region, and we are looking to continue to expand this to other regions.
Environmental Management System: ISO 14001
We apply a systematic approach to environmental management and have achieved ISO 14001: Environmental Management System certification in our UKIME Region.
American Law Industry Sustainability Standards
We are a signatory to the ALISS in our US Region and subject our US operations to the ALISS assessments as a measure of the Region’s environmental sustainability.
ECOVADIS
We have achieved ECOVADIS Bronze certification in our Europe and UKIME Regions, demonstrating our sustainability practices within our upstream and downstream activities.
CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project)
We disclose and monitor our climate change related risks and opportunities through CDP in our UKIME and US Regions and anticipate expanding this globally.
Toitu
We respond to Toitu in our Australasia Region, to demonstrate our commitment to improving our efficiencies, reducing our carbon footprint and being more sustainable.
Green Arbitration
We are a global signatory to the Campaign for Greener Arbitrations, as a commitment to ensuring sustainable change in the way we manage arbitrations.
LEED Certification
We are in LEED Certified buildings, or have LEED certified office fit-outs (or equivalent) in many of our offices globally as part of our broader commitment to sustainable office design and operations.
Green Star Building
We have Green Star Certification for some of our buildings in the Africa Region.
