In NEP Canada ULC v MEC OP LLC, the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench delivered a judgment on a contractual dispute between seller and buyer, which confirmed that a deceitful seller could not rely on contractual limitations on damages in the same contract that the buyer was induced to enter into on the basis of the seller’s fraudulent misrepresentations.

Global law firm Dentons advised Czech-based global chemicals producer Draslovka Holding on its agreement to acquire the mining solutions business (Chemours Mining Solutions) from NYSE-listed The Chemours Company for $520 million. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2021 subject to regulatory approvals and other closing conditions.
