The criticism of the German solo effort with respect to its recently passed supply chain act belies the fact that there is a global trend towards increased focus on human rights due diligence. Accordingly, the limited scope of the German Supply Chain Act should not distract from the fact that every company will be affected by this trend sooner or later. The associated challenge will not become smaller by postponing it into the future. Companies that act now will secure the integrity of their supply chains and at the same time prevent liability risks and reputational damage.
