Whether due to the complications which arose in the aftermath of Brexit or the ongoing COVID-19 challenges, or maybe both, regulators have been somewhat slow at outlining their next steps for 2021. Despite that, EU policymakers have indicated their desire for even greater Europeanization of financial services rulemaking and supervision. What this means for Banking Union Supervised Institutions (BUSIs) and other regulated market participants (RMPs) (collectively firms) already based in or otherwise relocating to the EU and/or the Eurozone is outlined in this third non-exhaustive “Playbook”.

This “Playbook” is intended to be a resource that complements specific dedicated coverage from our team on key developments. Financial institutions and other companies may want to refer periodically to this Playbook – regardless of which sector they are active in – especially as a number of priorities and developments have overlapping supervisory aims, expectations and compliance challenges.
