Janna Wehilani Ahu is an associate in Dentons' Honolulu office. The relentless pursuit of excellent results and client satisfaction drives Janna's law practice. She concentrates her practice primarily in the areas of business disputes, commercial litigation, construction litigation, real estate law and civil rights.
Janna previously served as a law clerk for the Honorable Gary W. B. Chang at the Hawaii First Circuit Court, where she assisted with cases involving all types of civil litigation, including business and contract disputes, employment disputes and land court and tax appeal issues. Her experience as a research assistant and scholar advocate for University of Hawai`i law professor Eric Yamamoto strengthened Janna’s commitment to public interest cases to serve the marginalized members of our community, which led to her current involvement in several of the Firm’s complex civil rights suits.
Janna’s civic leadership experience is deeply rooted in Hawai`i's community. She served as the Patsy T. Mink Legislative Fellow for US Senator Mazie Hirono in Washington, DC, where she worked on simplifying the financial aid process for college students as well as advocating for establishing Gear Up programs in all of Hawai`i's high schools.
Janna earned her JD, cum laude, from the William S. Richardson School of Law in 2016. She holds a BA, summa cum laude, in psychology from the University of Hawai`i at Manoa. She was born and raised in Hilo, Hawaii and graduated from Kamehameha Schools Hawai`i in Kea`au.
