A Law Corporation
John-Anderson L. Meyer is a partner in Dentons' Honolulu office. A commercial litigator whose knowledge of the law helps clients both avoid disputes and resolve conflicts should they arise, Anderson has handled a wide range of matters, including commercial litigation, construction cases, personal injury defense, insurance defense, healthcare litigation, medical and legal malpractice defense, constitutional and civil rights litigation, and appellate practice.
Anderson regularly advises and represents hospitals, medical centers, health insurers and healthcare systems across the state on medical staff issues, including credentialing, fair process hearings, medical staff bylaws, peer review practices, root cause analyses, and insurance-coverage disputes. He has also represented a number of licensed healthcare professionals in investigations by and proceedings before the State of Hawai`i Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA), and represented healthcare companies and healthcare insurers in administrative matters and litigation.
Anderson has lectured on appellate advocacy at his alma mater, the William S. Richardson School of Law, since 2009; worked with the University of Hawai`i Elder Law Program (UHELP) educating Hawaii’s kūpuna (elders) on end-of-life decision-making; and serves on the Hawai`i Court Annexed Arbitration Program's panel of court-appointed arbitrators.
Selected by Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star” since 2013, Anderson has appeared before all courts in the State of Hawai`i, and successfully argued before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Raised in Honolulu, Anderson received two undergraduate degrees from the University of Washington and an MA in Philosophy from the University of Hawai`i at Mānoa before earning a JD, summa cum laude, from UH's William S. Richardson School of Law.
He has advised and represented hospitals, medical centers and health care systems statewide on medical staff issues, including credentialing, fair process hearings, medical staff bylaws, peer review practices and root cause analyses. He has also represented multiple Hawai’i-licensed health care professionals in investigations and proceedings before the State of Hawai’i Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA), in every case successfully negotiating favorable settlements or the cessation of investigative activities.
