Rose Petoskey is a member of the Regulatory, Public Policy and Government Affairs practice and the Native American Law and Policy practice, which serves clients on matters related to American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian issues. Rose focuses on a variety of matters related to Indian lands and economic development in Indian country, including trust acquisitions, compliance with the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act and the National Environmental Policy Act, and issues related to the Supreme Court's decision in Carcieri v. Salazar.

Prior to joining Dentons, Rose served as Senior Advisor and Director of Tribal Affairs for the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. In this role, she managed White House engagement with Tribal governments and coordinated and advised on all roll outs for Biden-Harris Administration policy announcements impacting Tribes and Native American people. She prepared briefing materials for the President and the First Lady regarding Tribal policy issues and events and led planning for the President and First Lady’s travel to Indian Country. While at the White House, Rose also led planning for the annual White House Tribal Nations Summit and the annual White House Tribal Youth Forum.

Prior to her work at the White House, Rose served as Senior Counselor to the Assistant Secretary-Indian Affairs at the US Department of the Interior where she managed an extensive portfolio of policy issues including land into trust, Indian gaming matters, treaty and subsistence rights, public safety and justice, Alaska Native affairs, and self-governance and self-determination programs.

She served on the drafting team for the updated Class III Tribal State Gaming Compact Process regulations found at 25 C.F.R. Part 293 and the Land Acquisition regulations found at 25 C.F.R. Part 151. While at Interior, Rose also served on the PROGRESS Act Negotiated Rulemaking Committee to amend the regulations governing Tribal self-governance found at 25 C.F.R Part 1000.

Rose is a member of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians.
