In October 2016, the European Parliament published a study on the European Union's regulatory framework for franchising. This proposed a new EU franchise law, which would allow franchisors to set fixed or minimum prices and to impose stronger restrictions on internet sales by franchisees into others' exclusive territories. It also proposed additional obligations, such as mandatory pre-contractual disclosure by both parties and a cooling off period, to encourage good franchising practice.
