Former US Attorney Joins Newly Expanded Global Law Firm in Kansas City
Kansas City—Dentons is pleased to announce that Stephen L. Hill, Jr., Patrick McInerney, Lisa Krigsten, Steven Aaron, Maxwell Carr-Howard and Angela Harse are joining the firm's Kansas City office as partners in the White Collar and Government Investigations practice, along with associate Sara Holzschuh effective April 15.
Stephen Hill served as the US Attorney for more than seven years, and in that role was responsible for all federal criminal investigations and civil enforcement matters in the Western District of Missouri. In private practice, Hill represents companies, boards of directors and individuals in investigation and litigation matters, particularly involving securities enforcement. Hill also has been counsel for health care providers in matters related to internal investigations, voluntary disclosures and negotiations with the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and federal law enforcement agencies and departments on national and local health care investigations. While he served as the US Attorney, Hill's office obtained numerous convictions for public corruption at various levels of government. He also advised US Attorney General Janet Reno and the DOJ on corporate prosecution policies and health care-related policy issues as part of his service on the Attorney General's Advisory Committee.
Lisa Krigsten is a former federal prosecutor who has served numerous roles in public service, including as the presidentially appointed Principal Deputy Attorney General for Civil Rights in the US Department of Justice in Washington. In her private practice, Krigsten represents individuals and corporate leadership nationally in government investigations and litigation. Krigsten has represented clients before the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. She also manages internal investigations. Additionally, Krigsten served on the editorial board for the American Bar Association's Criminal Justice newsletter and lectures on issues relating to government investigations and litigation.
Steven Aaron has more than 20 years of experience representing clients in criminal cases, business and commercial disputes, health care matters and government investigations. He has tried more than 45 civil and criminal jury trials in state and federal courts. A former state assistant prosecuting attorney, Aaron has also represented individual professionals, companies and corporations before enforcement and regulatory agencies such as the Office of the Inspector General for Health and Human Services, the IRS and the US Federal Trade Commission, as well as before various state agencies.
Maxwell Carr-Howard, a former federal prosecutor, assists companies of all sizes with internal investigations of potential criminal conduct, including public and private corruption, import/export violations and breaches of US economic sanctions. Carr-Howard frequently coordinates cross-border investigations with counsel in the European Union and elsewhere and counsels multinational corporations on developing and reviewing training and compliance programs that address various anti-corruption regimes.
Angela Harse concentrates in white collar criminal defense, assisting companies or business officers respond to government investigations and internal investigations. She has designed and conducted internal investigations for private and public corporations in response to whistleblower allegations. Her civil litigation practice has included a broad range of complex matters, including commercial real estate disputes, medical malpractice defense, RICO issues and general business litigation.
Sara M. Holzschuh served as a Special Assistant US Attorney in the US Attorney's Office in the Western District of Missouri before entering private practice.

Serving clients throughout Kansas and Missouri, as well as throughout the United States and Europe, these partners have represented multinational corporations, small businesses and individuals in a broad array of civil and criminal litigation. Their addition to the firm's White Collar Litigation practice adds significant depth to the team's bench of accomplished practitioners.
Hill received his JD from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, his BS from Southwest Missouri State University and a degree from London University. McInerney received his JD from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law and his BS from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Aaron received his JD from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law and his BGS from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Krigsten received her JD from the University of Iowa College of Law and her BA from the University of Kansas. Carr-Howard received his JD magna cum laude from the University of New Mexico School of Law, his MPA from the University of New Mexico and his BA magna cum laude, with distinction, from Boston University. Harse received her JD from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, with distinction, and her BA magna cum laude from Southern Methodist University.
The group joins Dentons from Husch Blackwell.
