Global law firm Dentons earned 109 individual and 43 practice rankings - a 20% increase over last year - in the most recent edition of Chamber USA.
St. Louis—Dentons announced today that partner John R. Haug has been named the managing partner of its St. Louis office. He will take the reins of the office's management from Jenny Marler, who after five years in the leadership role will continue her focus upon her robust real estate practice.
"In his 10 years at Dentons, John has consistently demonstrated his leadership, judgment and good humor, all of which will serve him well as he leads the St. Louis office, especially in this milestone year for the office and period of growth for the Firm," said Mike McNamara, Dentons' US managing partner. "At the same time we welcome John to this position, we also thank Jenny for her tremendous service and leadership of the office."
Prominent in the St. Louis business and real estate communities, Marler was the inaugural recipient of the Commercial Real Estate Women Network's Achievement of Excellence Award, one of the St. Louis Business Journal's 40 Under 40 and recognized as one of the Most Influential Women in Real Estate and one of "20 Under 40" women in commercial real estate. She is also a former practice leader of Dentons' US Real Estate group.
Dentons' St. Louis office celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Local clients include many of the region's public and privately held companies, financial institutions, real estate owners and developers, hospitals, universities, and government and nonprofit entities. The office is home to more than 30 Dentons lawyers and professionals, with focus primarily on litigation, real estate, public policy, intellectual property and corporate service to clients. At a signing ceremony in January, Dentons announced its combination with 大成, the largest law firm in China. When the transition is complete the combined firm will have more than 6600 lawyers globally and will be the largest law firm in the world.
Haug is the co-leader of the Firm's national construction group and the leader of the Firm's global Transportation practice team. His diverse practice includes counseling clients on real estate development, construction, architectural, engineering and commercial leasing issues. He represents clients on a variety of development projects across the United States and abroad including malls and shopping facilities, industrial, chemical production and manufacturing facilities, gaming complexes, multi-unit residential housing developments, hospitals, luxury hotels and spas, petroleum refineries, and government remediation projects. Haug also represents pipelines and energy transportation companies in connection with significant petroleum pipeline and storage systems, related rail yard and cargo transportation systems and advises numerous solar energy providers.
A St. Louis native, Haug is active in numerous local charitable and civic organizations including serving on the gala leadership committee for The Mission Continues, a St. Louis organization dedicated to empowering veterans, and the executive board of the St. Louis Actors' Studio. He is also a significant supporter of the Center of Contemporary Arts and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. He earned his JD from Washington University, and his BA, magna cum laude, from Westminster College.
