London—Dentons has unveiled Katharine Lazenby as the winner of the fifth Dentons Art Prize.

Katharine Lazenby achieved a First class honours BA in Fine Art from The Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design in 2014. She uses photography to extract graphic fragments of the everyday, capturing abstract patterns that share her experience and reading of the world around her.

Special commendations were also given to Freya Douglas Morris and Fiona G Roberts, who was also awarded the Staff Prize, as voted for by Dentons employees.

The Dentons Art Prize winners were chosen by a panel of expert independent judges which included Anj Smith, artist; David Roberts, Collector and Founder of David Roberts Art Foundation; and Patrick Morey Burrows, Founder of Art Source.

The Dentons Art Prize is a biannual competition which began in January 2016 in collaboration with curator Niamh White. As part of the initiative, the shortlisted artists display their work at Dentons' London offices and are given access to expert pro bono legal advice. As the winner of the Dentons Art Prize, Katharine Lazenby received a prize of £5,000.

Previous winners of the Dentons Art Prize include Alzbeta Jaresova (A/W17), Paresha Amin (S/S17), Alexandra Lethbridge (A/W16) and Aimee Parrott (S/S16).
