Together with the Vancouver Economic Commission, Dentons co-hosted a roundtable event on September 17, 2019, at Dentons’ Vancouver office, where they welcomed representatives from various British Columbia healthcare companies and a group of visiting healthcare companies from China, led by the Director General of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Medicines and Healthy Products (CCCMCPIE).

Wei Shao, National Co-leader of the China Service Desk at Dentons, provided opening welcome remarks to all participants. Keynote speakers included Catherine Warren, CEO of Vancouver Economic Commission, and Zhongpeng Zhang, Director of CCCMCPIE. Participants at the roundtable were engaged in enlightening discussions with respect to the opportunities and challenges for Canadian brands to enter the Chinese health food and pharmaceutical markets, market strategies for the Chinese health industry, including e-commerce strategies, as well as China’s health supplements registration requirements and updates.

The participants expect to set up a WeChat group to follow up on opportunities and relationships identified, including cross-border investment possibilities.
