Dentons, the world’s largest law firm, today announces that partner Alanna Clair has been recognized as a 2020 DC Rising Star by The National Law Journal. Clair, based in Washington, DC, is a member of Dentons’ Commercial Litigation practice and focuses on professional liability and law firm defense and insurance coverage and bad faith defense.
Selected from a competitive pool of finalists, Clair is among the “40 Under 40”, representing honorees engaged in a range of practice areas with high-profile clients and a track record of victories in high-dollar cases.
Clair regularly counsels professionals on best practices for anticipating and avoiding ethical and legal problems across a range of business situations; claim management and avoidance; and other issues unique to this space, including privilege, professional responsibility and partnership law. She also regularly represents insurance companies in high-stakes cases involving coverage disputes and allegations of bad faith, and has developed a niche practice advising and litigating on behalf of insurers involved in professional negligence disputes with celebrities and other high-profile individuals.
Clair is a member of the CLE Committee of the ABA's Center for Professional Responsibility and co-chair of the Professional Liability Litigation Section’s Subcommittee on Attorneys' Liability. She has been included on the District of Columbia Bar’s Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll or High Honor Roll every year since the inception of these honors in 2011. A co-author of two treatises published by American Lawyer Media, Georgia Legal Malpractice Law and The Lawyer's Handbook: Ethics Compliance and Claim Avoidance, Clair also writes a bi-monthly column on attorney risk management in ALM’s Daily Report.
