Paris—Dentons Paris corporate partner John Flanigan was quoted in an article entitled “La Puissance du Dollar” (The Power of the Dollar) published in Challenges, France’s leading economic magazine, on Wednesday May 7, 2014.

The article highlights the recent increased levels of profitability and built-up cash reserves of many American companies, a result of cost cutting and investments in research as well as an improved market, which has led to an uptick in acquisitions by US acquirers, including foreign purchases that also benefit from favorable tax treatment.  The danger of Euro zone economic collapse has receded and some governments are sending more positive messages to the market, making Europe—including France—a more attractive hunting ground again. 

John states that “since the arrival of the new government of French Prime Minister Manuel Valls, I can feel a tangible sense of relief from certain American clients.”
