On 29 March 2017, Global Arbitration Review (GAR) unveiled its 2017 GAR30 ranking of elite international arbitration practices, featuring Dentons’ international arbitration group in 17th position globally this year. GAR referred to some of Dentons’ most visible recent successes, including complete defense wins for the People’s Republic of China in its first ICSID arbitration going to a hearing, for the Commonwealth of Australia in a multi-billion dollar arbitration against Philip Morris, and Gazprom in another multi-billion dollar arbitration against the Republic of Lithuania, among many other cases.
Jean-Christophe Honlet, Global Head of International Arbitration and Bart Legum, Global Head of Investment Arbitration, commented: “Dentons is proud to have again been singled out by GAR for its international arbitration practice on five continents and a number of high-profile wins achieved for Dentons’ clients recently, from multi-million to multi-billion dollar arbitrations. Many of these wins are firsts of their kind, in the best tradition of our group.”
