Chicago—Dentons partner Scott F. Turow is the author of Testimony, one of three novels nominated for the 2018 Harper Lee Prize for Legal Fiction, presented by the American Bar Association Journal and the University of Alabama School of Law.

Turow focuses his practice on both civil and criminal cases, including extensive pro bono criminal work. He was a member of the Illinois Executive Ethics Commission, serving as its first chair, and also served as a member of the Illinois Commission on Capital Punishment, whose recommendations led to substantial reforms of the Illinois death penalty and to its ultimate abolition. In addition to his legal practice, Turow is also the author of 11 best-selling works of fiction and two nonfiction books.

The prize was authorized by the late Harper Lee and established in 2011 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the publication of To Kill a Mockingbird. The award is given annually to a  novel that highlights the ability of lawyers to effect change in society. The winner will be determined by a four-person panel, with a public poll acting as a fifth vote. The award will be presented at a ceremony in August at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
