Houston—Dentons, the world’s largest law firm, announces today that Laura Gibson has been named managing partner of the Firm’s Houston office. She succeeds Glenn Ballard Jr.

A member of Dentons' Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice and head of the Employment and Labor team in Houston, Gibson has extensive trial and appellate experience. She has handled complex commercial litigation and arbitrations in areas involving employment, banking, energy, securities, copyright and communications law. She has been board certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 2001.

Gibson has 37 years of industry experience, including nearly 30 years in a leadership role. Last year,  Gibson’s peers elected her president of the State Bar of Texas for the 2022-23 bar year, and she will serve through June 2023. Previously she served as president of the Association of Women Attorneys (2011–2012), founding the Premier Women in Law Luncheon during her term; and as president of the Houston Bar Association (2015–2016). In 2013, she received the Trailblazer Outside Counsel Award from the Texas Minority Counsel Program for her commitment to diversity. In June 2020, Gibson founded the Liberty & Justice For All Task Force.
